Braveheart International was founded by Dossevi Trenou, an engineer, educator, and simultaneous French-English conference interpreter whose approach to teaching has been shaped by decades of professional experience across technology, language, and international environments—and, more recently, by thousands of hours working directly with students.

Since 2020, Dossevi has conducted upward of 5,000 tutoring sessions with over 600 students, earning a 4.8 out of 5 rating through Varsity Tutors. Those sessions have represented more than teaching hours. They have served as a laboratory for learning: observing where students struggle, discovering which explanations work and which do not, listening to students and families, and continuously refining the methodology that now forms the foundation of Braveheart.

Before returning intensively to education, Dossevi spent 35 years at Hewlett-Packard, working across technology, business, program leadership, and complex problem solving in international environments where leadership often meant making difficult ideas clear, helping people align around a problem, and moving from understanding to action. In parallel, he built more than three decades of experience as a simultaneous French-English conference interpreter serving global corporations and organizations worldwide. Together, those experiences reinforced habits that remain central to his teaching today: reason carefully, define the problem before attempting to solve it, communicate complex ideas clearly across technical and linguistic boundaries, learn continuously, and never confuse complexity with sophistication.

His own journey has also shaped the educator he has become. From West Africa to France and eventually the United States, Dossevi has repeatedly had to learn, adapt, and build a life in new environments. He has built a career and raised a family while navigating different countries, cultures, languages, educational systems, and technologies. Those experiences strengthened a conviction that now sits at the heart of Braveheart: the ability to learn—and to keep learning—is one of the most powerful forms of independence any person can develop.

That conviction can be seen in the way he teaches. A correct answer is not enough. Students are encouraged to think through what they are doing, make connections, ask questions freely, say clearly when something does not make sense, and explain what they understand in their own words.

Teaching adapts until understanding is achieved.

Dossevi also remains an active learner himself. His continuing work with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, informs Braveheart’s approach to modern learning. AI can be an extraordinary resource for exploration, organization, explanation, and productivity, but it should never replace a learner’s own reasoning. The objective is not to teach learners how to obtain answers from technology. It is to help them develop the judgment to use powerful tools without surrendering their independence of thought.

​Dossevi holds a Diplôme d’ingénieur in Electrical Engineering from Grenoble INP, a French engineering degree equivalent to a master’s degree.

Behind this professional experience and educational background is something simpler and more personal: a teacher who cares deeply that the learner understands, because he was once a student who cared not merely about earning good grades or a degree, but about truly understanding what he was learning and being able to explain it to others. Dossevi welcomes dialogue with students, families, and adult clients, invites feedback and criticism, and readily acknowledges that he continues to learn from those he teaches as well.
